Player trades

Besides the marketplace, which is an open shop window for any buyer, you can trade straight with one chosen trainer. Each side builds their half, and it can mix pokemon, items, boss keys, gold and Safira: a pokemon for an item, a key for another key, a pokemon for an item plus Safira, whatever you two agree on.

Nothing changes hands until both sides agree. What you put in a trade is reserved: it leaves your bag (or box, or balance) and cannot be used, sold or put in another trade while this one is open.

The three kinds of trade

When offering, you pick the shape:

Kind How it works
Gift You build your half and ask for nothing. The other side just accepts. No fee at all.
With an ask You build your half and say what you want: items, gold, Safira. The other side accepts in one step and the trade closes right away.
Open You build your half and leave the ask open. The other side builds their half (pokemon allowed) and sends it back. You see exactly what is on the table and give the final word.

You cannot ask for a specific pokemon of the other trainer in a "with an ask" trade: nobody sees someone else's box. To receive pokemon, use an open trade: they put the pokemon up, you confirm.

Locked pokémon (🔒, see Releasing pokémon and Dust) cannot enter a trade. Unlock it before putting it on the table.

Where to trade

The Trades screen lives in the main menu, next to the Market. There you offer new trades, answer the ones you received and browse the history.

You can also start from where the asset is:

  • Pokemon: open the Box, pick the pokemon and tap Trade with a trainer.
  • Item: open the Bag, pick the item and tap Trade with a trainer.
  • Boss key: open the Bag and tap the key, down in Boss keys.

The item, the key or the pokemon arrives already placed in the Trades composer.

Boss keys

Keys live in a pocket of their own, outside the bag, and enter a trade through the + key button. You pick the biome of the key and how many go on the table.

  • Your side only lists the keys you have. In the request you can ask for a key from any biome, even one you have never seen drop.
  • A key counts toward the same limit of 6 different items per side: a key on the table takes one of the six slots.
  • Sending a key is a Premium benefit, like sending an item or a pokemon. Receiving is free.

Keys also sell on the marketplace. A trade is for when you already agreed with someone: key for key, or key for that pokemon you want.

Check before you accept

In an offer, tap the pokemon or the item to open its full sheet. It is the same read you would get before buying on the market:

  • Pokemon: rarity, level, nature, gender and types; all six stats with each IV and EV; the moves it brings (with rarity and seals); what it is holding; its parents and how many hands it has passed through.
  • Item: rarity, what it does and, on a TM, which seals come in it.

You can check your own side too: tap your pokemon or item in the composer and see exactly what the other trainer will receive.

The trade stays in the pokemon's history. Every time a pokemon changes trainers, its history gains a line with who handed it over, who received it and the date. That covers trades and gifts, not just market sales, and anyone who opens its sheet later sees that line.

Fees

Situation Fee
Gift None.
Trade (with an ask, or open) 100 gold per side, paid when each of you puts your half up. It does not come back if the trade falls through.
Gold received in a trade 6%, taken from the receiver (the same marketplace sale fee).
Safira in a trade No fee, same as sending Safira.

Limits

Rule Value
Pokemon per side 3
Different items per side 6 (a boss key counts as an item)
Units of one item 999
Keys from the same biome per side 999
Offers per day (24h) 20 (counter-offers count)
Pokemon sent per day (24h) 5
Your trades waiting for an answer 10
Trades waiting with the same trainer 3
Time to answer 48h

If nobody answers in time, the trade expires on its own and everything goes back to its owners, on both sides. Declining or canceling also returns everything, right away.

What cannot enter a trade

  • Your lead and the pokemon on your team. Only what is in the Box. Move it to the Box first.
  • Pokemon bound to you, such as the Founder companion.
  • Exclusive items, such as the Name Tag.

The value goes with you

What you earned is yours, and trading with other trainers is part of the economy, inside and outside the game. The value the community places on a rare stays with its owner.

Trade or marketplace?

  • Trades are for a specific person: a gift for a friend, a swap agreed in chat, pokemon for pokemon.
  • The marketplace is for any buyer: public shop window, offers, auctions, buy orders.
