Cases

A case is the opening format with a show. It has its own screen in the menu, right after the Sortuda, in the Trainer group. Unlike the Sortuda, which spins one capsule at a time, each case has its own scene, and the scene grows with the rarity of what came out.

There are two cases today.

Test Case

10 Sapphire. Five prizes per opening.

Four come out in a burst and one highlight opens last.

Part What it is
The four minors The warm-up burst. Mostly blue.
The highlight The last to open, and it is never blue: its floor is the purple capsule.

Every opening has, by construction, one moment worth the show.

Odds

Colour As the highlight As a minor
Blue never 70%
Purple 60% 22%
Red 30% 6%
Silver 8.5% 1.5%
Gold 1.5% 0.5%

If one of the minors comes out better than the highlight, the two swap places. The swap only improves things: the highlight is always the best prize in the batch.

What is inside

Items that already exist in the game, in the quantities of the Sortuda's own drawers: balls, candies, Dust, elixirs and Sapphire back. The high colours add Astral Balls and bigger Dust stacks.

It is modest on purpose. It exists to run the opening with real players before any permanent case goes in. If you open one and find the prize modest, that was the intention.

Pokémon Case

50 Sapphire. One pokémon per opening.

This one gives no items at all. It gives a pokémon, and the scene is different: the creature is revealed stat by stat, and the name only shows up at the end.

Odds

Tier Chance
Common 70%
Rare 25%
Elite 5%

The pokémon comes from the same list as the Species Chests in the Battle Pass, with the same shiny chance they have.

The pokémon goes straight to your Box, and its profile records that it came from a case.

The rules that apply to both

The colour the scene shows is the real colour. The animation never announces less than you won. When it shows one colour and then "cracks" into a better one, that is decoration, and it only ever happens upward.

The result exists before the first frame. Skipping the animation changes nothing about what came out. The button is there the whole time.

Players who prefer less motion lose nothing. With reduced motion enabled on your device, the result appears instantly, without the scene.

A case will not open if you have nowhere to put the prize. A full backpack and depot block the opening before charging you. The Pokémon Case is the exception: the Box has no such limit.
