Line Mastery

Catching your second Charizard is worth less in novelty and more in mastery. Every pokemon you catch adds to its evolutionary line, and that number never resets: it stays on your account even if the individual leaves it (released, sold, retired in the Hall or donated in a Capsule).

Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard all add to the same counter. You master the line, not the form.

What counts

Catches from the hunt, solo or in a group. Every pokemon that lands in your Box from the map is worth 1 point on its line.

What does not count: the Boss Room boss, pokemon that come out of chests, hatched eggs, Market purchases and raid prizes. Mastery belongs to whoever hunts the line.

The four milestones

Milestone Catches on the line
1st 100
2nd 400
3rd 1,000
4th 2,500

Each milestone crossed is worth, in that line:

Bonus Per milestone At all four
Catch chance +2% +8%
Shiny appearance +5% +20%

The shiny bonus is relative: it adds on top of the line's normal odds, the same step as the Distant Shine talent.

Where to see it

In the Pokédex, on each species page. The sheet shows how many catches you have made on that line, the last milestone crossed and how far the next one is.
