Offline progress

You don't have to keep the game open. Your lead hunts while you sleep, work or close the tab, and you see the result when you come back: kills, exp, gold, loot, catches. This page explains exactly how much.

Two rules shape the offline yield: a time cap and a yield factor.

The cap: 12 hours

The game counts at most 12 hours of offline hunting since the last time you checked. Time beyond that earns nothing.

Rule Value
Offline cap 12 hours
Beyond the cap Nothing is accumulated

The cap can be raised by trainer bonuses (the default is 12h).

The factor: 80% of the live yield

An offline window earns 80% of what it would earn playing actively.

Situation Yield multiplier
Live (game open, polling) 1.0 (100%)
Offline catch-up (on return) 0.8 (80%)

That 0.8 multiplies the kill rate, so everything derived from kills shrinks together and coherently: exp, gold, loot, catches and chests. You don't just lose gold, you lose 20% of everything, proportionally.

Poké Balls regenerate offline too

Separately from the hunt, you earn +1 Poké Ball every 30 minutes, up to a cap of 25. Like everything here, this is pure elapsed time: offline and online yield the same. Come back with a full stock.

One screen at a time

Your account plays on one screen at a time. If you open the game in another tab, browser or device, the newest screen takes over and the old one pauses with the notice "Account opened somewhere else". Nothing is lost: it is the same hunt, and it keeps going on the new screen. To play on the old screen again, just click "Play in this tab".

Continue with The hunt screen or go back to Getting started.
