Cookie Policy

1.1. Purpose

This Cookie Policy explains how PokéHunt uses cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, identifiers, pixels, tags, logs and similar technologies when you access the website, client, landing page, legal pages, account, game, store, support or other related services.

1.2. Relationship with other documents

This policy supplements the PokéHunt Service Agreement, the PokéHunt Extended Agreement, the Electronic Acceptance Agreement, the PokéHunt Rules and the Privacy Policy where available. In case of conflict, the more specific document on data processing and cookies prevails as applicable.

1.3. Updates

This policy may be updated when new cookies, analytics tools, payment providers, anti-fraud systems, consent features, integrations or functionality are added to PokéHunt.

2.1. Cookies

Cookies are small files or records stored in the browser or device when you access a website. They can enable login, security, preferences, page functionality, fraud prevention and usage analysis.

2.2. LocalStorage and sessionStorage

In addition to cookies, PokéHunt may use browser local storage to save language preferences, visual settings, interface scale, onboarding state, inventory preferences, referrals and other data needed to improve the experience without requiring new configuration on every visit.

2.3. Third-party technologies

Payment, anti-fraud, hosting, analytics, monitoring, CDN, support, security providers or external integrations may use their own cookies or technologies when their services are loaded or used within the PokéHunt flow.

3.1. Operation of the service

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you authenticated, identify the session, remember the selected character, preserve basic navigation state, load public pages, allow access to the game and keep essential features working correctly.

3.2. Security and abuse prevention

Cookies, identifiers and logs can help protect accounts, detect suspicious sessions, mitigate fraud, rate limiting, API abuse, attacks, automation, chargebacks, misuse of payment, phishing and other threats to PokéHunt security.

3.3. Preferences and experience

We store preferences to remember language, UI settings, scale adjustments, the onboarding tour, visual options and other local state that make the game more consistent between visits.

3.4. Measurement and improvement

Where analytics or monitoring tools are enabled, we may use them to understand performance, errors, navigation journeys, stability, page usage, campaigns, referrals and points of friction, preferably in aggregated or minimised form where possible.

4.1. Essential

Essential cookies are necessary for authentication, security, character selection, session protection, routing, abuse prevention, the operation of the website and access to the game. Without them, login, character selection, protected navigation and important parts of the service may not work.

4.2. Functional

Functional data remembers preferences such as language, interface settings, UI scale, completion of onboarding, inventory preferences, visual choices and other adjustments that personalise the player’s experience.

4.3. Security, anti-fraud and payments

In login, store, checkout, support and payment flows, cookies or identifiers may be used to validate transactions, prevent fraud, detect abuse, investigate chargebacks, protect accounts and preserve the technical evidence required.

To prevent fraud and the use of multiple accounts, PokéHunt keeps a random technical identifier in your browser, stored in a cookie and in local storage, which serves only to recognise that two visits came from the same browser. This identifier is randomly drawn, is not derived from you or from your equipment, contains no name, e-mail, document or payment data, and is not used for advertising nor shared with third parties for that purpose.

When a card payment is completed, the payment provider gives us an irreversible identifier of the payment method used, which we record alongside the purchase for fraud prevention. This identifier does not allow the card to be reconstructed, displayed or reused, and the card number is never received or stored by PokéHunt.

These records are kept for as long as they are necessary for the security purpose and are deleted once they cease to be useful for it, subject to any statutory retention periods. You may request information about this processing through the support channels.

4.4. Analytics and performance

Analytics, performance or monitoring cookies may be used to measure load times, stability, errors, pages accessed, the source of visits and general use of the website. Whenever required by law, non-essential cookies will depend on an appropriate legal basis, including consent where applicable.

PokéHunt uses a product analytics tool (PostHog) that records pages accessed, application errors, game usage milestones and a technical recording of the browsing session. This recording is captured with content masking: displayed text and filled-in fields are replaced before being sent, so that typed content, messages and personal data shown on screen are neither transmitted nor stored by the tool. The identifier attached is the same technical identifier of your access account, with no name, e-mail or payment data.

You can turn this processing off at any time in the game’s Settings tab, under the usage data sending option. Turning it off takes effect immediately for both events and session recording, and does not affect how the game works or the essential cookies described in item 4.1.

4.5. Marketing and referrals

PokéHunt may temporarily keep in the browser only the ref that was accessed and the moment of capture, in order to attribute any sign-up to the right partner. This flow does not record a visit on the server and does not use a persistent visitorId in the browser.

5.1. Login and character

PokéHunt uses cookies to keep the authentication token and remember the selected character. These records make it possible to enter the game, avoid improper redirects and connect the account to the right character.

5.2. Language and preferences

Language preferences and user settings may be saved in the browser’s local storage so that the website and the game keep the same experience when you return.

5.3. Onboarding and interface

PokéHunt may save whether certain tours, notices or interface preferences have already been seen, avoiding unnecessary repetition and keeping the experience tidier.

5.4. Referral and attribution

When a referral or campaign link is accessed, referral data may be kept temporarily to associate any sign-up with the right ref. Attribution is sent to the server only at sign-up, without recording a click, IP, user-agent, browser, operating system or visitor identifier in the referral history.

6.1. Browser settings

Most browsers allow you to block, delete or limit cookies and local storage in their privacy settings. You can also clear the site’s cookies and data manually in the browser or on the device.

6.2. Consequences of blocking

Blocking essential cookies or local storage may prevent login, character selection, checkout, preferences, security, connection to the game, operation of the store and other parts of PokéHunt. Some functionality may require cookies to be enabled.

6.3. Non-essential cookies

Where PokéHunt provides a banner, preference centre or equivalent mechanism, you will be able to manage non-essential cookies through the controls offered. Until then, the main control is through browser settings and the options provided by third parties where applicable.

6.4. Logout and clearing

Logging out may remove session cookies used by PokéHunt, but some local preferences may remain until they are cleared by the browser, by the game feature itself or by manually clearing the site’s data.

7.1. Payments and anti-fraud

Payment and anti-fraud providers may use cookies, device fingerprinting, identifiers, logs and other technologies to process payments, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations and respond to disputes.

7.2. Analytics, hosting and monitoring

Hosting, CDN, monitoring, observability and analytics services may collect technical data such as IP, browser, device, route accessed, response time, errors and performance events in order to keep the service secure and stable.

7.3. Third-party policies

Third-party cookies are also governed by the providers’ own policies. PokéHunt does not fully control cookies set by third parties outside its domains or environments, but will seek to use partners compatible with security and applicable law.

8.1. Retention period

Session cookies may expire when the browser is closed or when you log out. Other cookies and local data may remain for a longer period, according to technical configuration, purpose, security needs, fraud prevention, legal obligation or user preference.

8.2. Security

PokéHunt adopts reasonable measures to protect cookies and data associated with the service, but the user must also protect their device, browser, password, e-mail, session, network and account against unauthorised access.

8.3. Legal bases

The use of cookies and similar technologies may be based on performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, legitimate interest, fraud prevention, the regular exercise of rights and consent where required, in line with applicable data protection law.

9.1. Questions and requests

For questions about cookies, privacy, personal data or account security, use official support or the channel indicated by PokéHunt. The request must contain enough information for secure identification of the account or of the event under analysis.

9.2. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect new features, providers, legal requirements, consent technologies or security practices. The version in force will be available in the PokéHunt legal center.
